Seasoned yoga teacher, founder of the Sanctuary Studio, mother and local politician, Leia is a person of passion! She is known for her authentic, non-judgmental teaching style (infused with a hearty dose of humor; a spirit of playfulness) and compassion-centered philosophy.

Leia is an E-500RYT  (Experienced 500+Hours of Training Registered Yoga Teacher) Yoga Alliance approved teacher through Samudra Global School of Living Yoga, under the instruction of Shiva Rea as well as a graduate of the Colorado School of Yoga.  Leia is also a Yoga Alliance Continuing Education Provider (YACEP®) through Yoga Alliance.  Leia is a teacher of teachers and offers a 200 hour teacher training course in Gunnison through the Colorado School of Yoga. Leia also teaches workshops and leads retreats.  She will be leading a Trekking & Yoga Trek in Nepal in the spring of 2018. She has also attended a 160 hour Yoga for Survivors program with Laura Kupperman.  Leia has been voted “Best Yoga Teacher” for the last four year’s in the Gunnison Chamber of Commerce’s “Best of” awards.  Leia has studied numerous styles of yoga including: Vinyasa Flow, Prana Vinyasa™, Ashtanga, Iyengar, Anusara, Bikram, Power Yoga and Kundalini. Her Vinyasa Flow classes, provide an integrative approach to yoga and are appropriate for all levels of practice. Leia is available for private, corporate and small group instruction.

Jani Wedmore Pulaski

Jani Wedmore Pulaski is Certified in Rolfing, Rolf Movement, Kundalini Yoga, Nutritional Health Counseling and Psych-K.  her approach to helping people incorporates modalities that she feels are able to address the whole human being using Structural Body Work, Movement, Healthy Eating Choices and Kinesiology.  Jani sees clients privately and teaches classes at her studio in Gunnison.  She also enjoys facilitating retreats nationally and internationally.  Jani is also a certified light therapist with Whole Health Light. Meegan Haley

meegan dancerWhile she was born and raised in upstate NY, Meegan considers Colorado to be home. She has lived in CO for 22 years, the last 10 in the Gunnison Valley. Her yoga journey started in 2001 when she was introduced to the Bikram hot yoga series. Over the years, her practice expanded to include Power yoga, Ashtanga, Restorative and Iyengar yoga. In 2009, she moved to Denver for a 9 week 200 hour teacher certification in the Bikram style yoga series. When she returned home, she started teaching in Crested Butte and in Gunnison. She soon realized that her full time teaching job in the schools and teaching yoga in the evening proved to be too much. Her yoga career was put on hold. In the summer of 2013, she taught the Bikram series once again at Yoga CB in Crested Butte. Over the course of the 2013/­2014 year, she yearned for a deeper understanding of Yoga and what it means to live as a Yogi. In May of 2014, she embarked on a life changing journey to Mysore, India where she lived in an Ashram for 5 weeks, training for a second 200 hour certification in Traditional Hatha Yoga. She is humbled and honored to bring Hatha Yoga to the Gunnison Valley. She looks forward to sharing the wisdom and practice bestowed upon her. To breath, relax and have awareness of the body is the true experience of yoga.

Stacy Fuller

Stacy FullerStacy Fuller, M.A., L.M.T., RYT-500 Yoga Teacher and Ayurvedic Counselor

Stacy is a RYT-500 Yoga teacher originally from Alabama, but moving to Gunnison from Catalina Island, CA. In 2012 she graduated from Massage School in Alabama and then went on to pursue Yoga. She did her Yoga training at Mount Madonna in Watsonville, CA. Mount Madonna is a Yoga and Ayurveda College founded by Master Yogi Baba Hari Dass. All of the trainings there are steeped in Classical Yogic texts.

She graduated with her 200 level in 2013 and then in 2014 completed the 500 hour. Since doing this training she has been a part of the YTT trainings each summer and throughout the year as well. She teaches Asana and Anatomy and Physiology for the YTT utilizing her Masters work in Exercise Physiology.

Her classes are a variety of Hatha, Ashtanga, Tantra, Ayurveda, and Bhakti reflecting Baba Hari Dass’ method of offering many paths to the same goal of Yoga: The connection with SELF. If you show up to one of Stacy’s classes you will get a variety of practices, Pranayama, Meditation, Asana, and Chanting. All the practices with the aim of feeling connected to source.

Stacy was a world class gymnast and a college cheerleader at the University of Alabama. She did her Masters work at the University of Central Florida where she was a strength and conditioning coach. With her extensive athletic background she found that Yoga brings in the missing piece. Delaney Keating

Delaney winter 2015A long time Gunnison resident, Delaney teaches Sunrise Yin-Inspired Yoga every Friday and is in the rotation to teach Saturday morning classes. She is a certified Yoga I & 2 Instructor through AAAI. Aside from her talents in the yoga studio Delaney is offers several modalities including Quantum Biofeedback, Infrared LED Light Therapy, Pulsed Electromagnetic Field Therapy and Live & Dry Blood Imaging through her business Whole Health Light!

Karah Cunningham

Karah by Matt BurtKarah is a recent graduate of Leia’s 200 Hour Yoga Teacher Training through the Colorado School of Yoga. Karah has been studying and practicing yoga since 1994; attending numerous training’s, workshops and festivals. Her background consists of exploring the ancient texts and styles of Iyengar, Vinyasa, Anusara, Yin, Liquid Asana and Aerial yoga.  Each class is a unique evolving learning experience of YOUR practice, combining alignment technique, breath-work and props if needed.  Come develop your own practice with Karah! Aside from her fun classes she is a local DJ at our community radio station KBUT so expect some fun tunes to accompany her classes! Karah is also a hair artist at Metamorphosis Salon & Spa.

Heidi Magnus

HeidiHeidi Magnus has been a student of meditation for 10 years. She has a daily practice and has attended meditation seminars and retreats. She believes in studying meditation practices from various cultures and applying them to modern day life in a practical and fulfilling way. As a former biologist, Heidi enjoys connecting the dots between science and the benefits of meditation. As an owner of a busy deli with her sister for the last 2 decades, she understands the enormous value of daily contemplative practice.

Lindsey Schauer

Lindsey is a recent graduate of Leia’s 200 Hour Yoga Teacher Training through the Colorado School of Yoga. Lindsey has lived in the valley for 13 years and has been studying Iyengar yoga intensively for 12. She has been teaching for 9 years at various studios throughout the valley. Her passion for the outdoors and dedication to a healthy lifestyle has been a relationship that have grown together. Teaching yoga has been a wonderful platform for her to share the lessons she has learned along the way on her path to wellness and maintaining a physical balance to enjoy the live she loves.
Class Description:

With a background in Iyengar yoga as well as Integrated Vinyasa, Lindsey‘s approach to teaching comes from basic yoga philosophy and a strong focus on alignment. The class will focus on holding poses for long timings to ensure that the physical body understands the changes on a cellular level. This is an excellent class for anyone with a history of physical ailments or injuries as we use lots of props to ensure that everyone can get the same benefits from the poses.

Christine Marguerite

MA, 200E-RYT, LMT, LDMF  – My approach to body based practices whether I am leading a restorative yoga class, or an intense vinyasa flow, or movement meditation – is just breathe and feel what you feel.  In more layered terms: my approach to practice involves deeply connecting to your heart and discovering layers of  joy and wonderment in experiencing the body, breath, and whatever else shows up on the matt!  A sense of humor and a healthy dose of curiosity are all that are required to begin and sustain a yoga practice.  My background is eclectic, and I draw from the following disciplines in my classes: Kripalu yoga, Iyengar Yoga, Astanga Yoga, Bodymind Centering, Feldenkrais, Authentic Movement, Thai Massage, and Buddhist meditation.  I was trained to teach yoga through the Nosara Institute in ’96.  I also trained intensively with Donna Farhi in New Zealand, and Yoganand Michael Carol at Kripalu.  I have studied asana, pranayam and meditation with Erich Schiffmann, Stephen Cope, and the beloved Angela Farmer.  In 2004, I completed a Ma in Somatics and Consciousness Studies at Lesley University. Just last year I trained at Mountain heart School of Bodywork and Massage and fell in ,ove with the mountains! Currently I am in training to be a meditation mentor and facilitator through Metta Group and Against the Stream Buddhist Meditation Society in Los Angeles.  In case you were wondering what the LDMF is all about: I am a licensed Desire Map facilitator of Danielle LaPorte’s awesome book ‘The Desire Map: A guide to Creating Goals With Soul. peace, ease, full heart, and badassness.

Carla Fanciullo

Carla is a Certified Phoenix Rising Yoga Therapy practitioner offering private sessions as well as a Registered and Licensed Occupational Therapist. Her weekly class will open with gentle movement of Qigong and or somatic movement, moving into Hatha yoga poses, with any needed modifications for individual needs. Breathing practice and guided meditations will be included in classes to increase your journey to improved well-being. This class will be suitable for those moving toward improved physical health, following illness or injury, those needing to decrease stress, those new or practiced in the yoga philosophy.

Barbara Haas  

dolomittibarbBarb Haas, MA has studied shamanism since 1992 with the Foundation of Shamanic Studies, including Michael Harner (Way of the Shaman), Sandra Ingerman (Soul Retrival), Tom Cowan (Fire in the Head), and Betsy Bergstrom (Heart-Centered shamanism). Hillari Spencer

Hillari is a momma of 2, soon to be a momma of 3! She is a recent graduate of Leia’s 200 Hour Yoga Teacher Training program through the Colorado School of Yoga. Hillari brings to the mat her kindness, compassion and patience. She is a lovely soul and her classes show it! Keela Gendron

Keela is also a recent graduate of Leia’s 200 Hour Teacher Training Program through the Colorado School of Yoga. Keela brings to the mat a fiery passion for movement, breath and alignment. Joe Cachey

Joe (ParaJoe by Matt Burtmdayal) Cachey practiced both law and yoga for over 20 years but in 2013 yoga won out — Joe retired from law and became a Kundalini yoga teacher.  Joe inspires each student to have their own unique experience while participating in a common yogic discipline. He believes that all yoga, breath and meditative practices act as a “fountain of youth” and that Kundalini yoga perfectly combines these practices for those with a busy lifestyle seeking self-awareness.  Joe’s spiritual name “Paramdayal” means greatest giver of compassion and kindness, a goal he is ever working towards. Kate Orr

Kate's headshot by Matt BurtIf you’ve ever been at awe of an aerial act in the Gunnison Valley, the chances are Kate Orr was one of the one’s who made your jaw drop.  Kate has been training as a dancer for 18 years in various styles including ballet, modern, jazz, tap and hip-hop. She has 10 years of dance instruction experience, and has been a certified Zumba instructor since 2010.  She earned a degree in Exercise and Sport Science from WSCU in 2013.  Kate discovered aerial dance over three years ago, and fell in love at first flight.  She attended an Aerial Yoga Teacher Training with Aircat Aerial Arts this past May.  Kate is excited to combine her knowledge and experience, and pour it into her aerial yoga teaching. Kate is taking a break from teaching right now to spend time with her beautiful baby girl!

It happens, there are times when our regular teachers are sick or on vacation. We are lucky to have some dedicated subs who are often so willing to jump in and lend a hand with substituting and we thank them!

Lynn Sikkink

lynn as quweraLynn is one of our fantastic students turned yoga teacher!  Lynn has a Ph.D. in Anthropology and teaches at Western State Colorado University. One of her areas of specialty in anthropology is Andean traditional medicines. She has been studying yoga–first in California and then at the Sanctuary in Gunnison–for 10 years. She got into yoga to help with flexibility and to recover from injuries, but she stayed for the feeling of continual renewal and increased energy.


Patty Jagger

Patty (pint sized fireball) is a long time student of yoga.  She has studied with many of the yoga “greats” and this experience shows in her Anusara-Inspired practice!  She has taught Yoga For Seniors at the Sanctuary in the past but because of her busy schedule as President of Boomers and Beyond she is taking a break from a regularly scheduled class but is still available for substituting when we need it. Look for her on our Saturday morning schedule! Congratulations to Patty for being named “2013 Volunteer of the Year”.  She is amazing!

Kim Mcnamara

Kym McNamara is a Yoginos: Yoga for Youth inspired instructor and has received certification in Yoga for Children from the Yoga Education Institute. She worked as early childhood educator for over 10 years and is currently the Family and Children’s Librarian at the Gunnison Public Library. Her greatest teachers are her two energetic boys aged 8 and 3. She has been practicing yoga for over 10 years. Each Yoga class is created to encourage a child’s discovery of yoga, self and the world. Each class uses interactive games, animated postures, games, art, music and stories to create a kid friendly yoga experience. Kids under the age of 5 should attend class with a parent.
